HibbenThis work covering prehistoric man in Europe is based upon the notes of the late Vladimir Fowkes, authority on European beginnings and for many years connected with the American School of Prehistoric Research. Professor Fewkes, with his intimate knowledge of European languages and his wide travels, had amassed an extraordinary amount of information concerning the foundations of prehistoric Europe- However» with the exception of a comparatively small amount of material which was published prior to World War II, he had collected all of his work into an extensive set of notes for eventual formation into a book on European prehistory. His untimely death in 1941 prevented his final writing arid publication of the proposed volume.
